The Fortress of São Miguel is located in the old Hill of São Paulo, currently called Morro da Fortaleza, near the bridge of Luanda Island. It was the first fort to be built in Luanda, in the sixteenth century, during the government of Paulo Dias Novais. From urban point of view, the fortress has always been a landmark. In the early days, was the cluster boundary that was developed to southwest, towards the Beach of Bispo. Later, around 1648, when the Corimba Bar was silted up, the city began to develop to the north side, the other side of the hill, thus maintaining its originator role. Currently it is the Museum of the Armed Forces.
